oh the LEGENDS of Belize :)

Yesterday morning I went for my first and most likely only run, ha ha! Then I took some time for myself and went and got toast and coffee and got sucked into the Twilight book. It was so peaceful and serene...exactly what I needed! During the day a couple of us just laid out and caught some rays. It didn't take long to feel like my skin was burning off so then it was time for a lay down session in the room. The group had a one o'clock meeting and then the high school teachers went up to the high school to meet some of the teachers and students. Meeting the students and staff was the turning point from nervousness to excitement for me!

Last night all of us went to this local hole in the wall Chinese place called Cindy's Fast Food for dunner. Talk about yummy! They gave us so much food for so little money...exactly what we were all looking for. Immediately after most of us began our trek to find the bar Legends on the north end of the island (aka. like a 40 minute walk in foreign territory). And here is where the fun begins...

We finally make it to the toll bridge and we hear some music. Considering the island is pretty dark we follow the music and figure that this is the bar, Legends. Jeanne led us in and we all are a little skeptical. So to make a VERY LONG story short it was a 37 year old's birthday party with family and friends. BAHAHAHA! So yeah, who needs wedding crashers when you have seven girls crashing a birthday party. Not to mention this house was AMAZING!! We were on the rich side of the island supposedly. Well instead of being rude and staying to get free drinks we decided to continue the adventure of finding this bar, Legends.

After another ten minute walk....WA LA! There it is...this place does exist! All I have to say is that this was the best night yet!...friends and family, I will fill you in later! And yes Heather, this does involve me meeting #10...if you know what I mean! ;)

Today we are going to a Bar-B-Que that the high school is having as a fundraiser. The beach is mandatory after a pig fest, literally. And tonight we are going to a teacher's house for dinner...then who knows after that!!

A successful first day!

Where do I even start? Last night my roommate Tess and I celebrated St. Patty's day with a bang! Then we came home and decided it would be a great idea to shower. Little did we know, that H meant cold and C meant hot here. Its safe to say I was a complete ice cube after the 1.2 second shower I took. Then I laid down in the cozy bed with one sheet :) and it didn't take me long to fall asleep...for being tired and the amount of Belican we consumed!! In the middle of the night I had a little visitor crawl up my neck. I swatted it a little and then it landed on blanky. So I again gave it a major swat to get it off the bed. Tess woke up and I said "a stupid moth was just on me." She got up at that point to go to the restroom and turned on the light. I heard a little scream and she said, "EW that's a HUGE cockroach!" You put the pieces together. I got very little sleep after that scare!

(KP: these darn roaches follow me everywhere! and it was a flying one!!)

We woke up early this morning and went to a nice breakfast with the group at a place called George's. Then we walked around visiting 2 elementary schools and the high school we will be teaching at. Interesting to say the least. I am very excited about getting started! The principal at San Pedro High was very happy to see me. They just started a Physical Education program and he wanted me to organize it. Hmmm...I have quite a task on my hands!

The weather was beautiful today and I got the chance to lay out for about an hour. Can we say burnt? And yes, I used sunscreen! I need my base tan! We had a wonderful dinner tonight at a local place...probably the best Caribbean shrimp I have ever and will ever eat! Tomorrow I have a day off and so I plan on running in the morning with some of the girls, laying out, and catching up on some school work I need to get done!

I miss you all very much!!

We just finished our first meal and of course our first Belizian beer, a Belican, and our tummies are nice and full. We are about to celebrate St. Patrick's day at the Pedro's Inn bar (our hotel bar). They have great happy hour specials :)! We have a busy day tomorrow and so I'll be sure to post again tomorrow night after our tour of the tour and group dinner!
